Our head designer drew inspiration from contemporary African design and the undulating highveld grasslands to create a collection that is visually striking and beautifully modern. With its semi-circular frames and signature rope detail, the beauty of this collection is in it’s attention to detail.

The Arc rope and aluminium chair is where relaxed formality and comfort meet. Macalli’s handcrafted polyester rope work is exceptionally strong and weather resistant. This combined with a robust epoxy coated aluminium frame will ensure many years of enjoyment. Comfortable outdoor cushions made from premium outdoor grade foam and finished in your choice of three waterproof outdoor fabrics, help to soften the materiality of this occasional chair.
Handcrafted, handwoven
Carefully handcrafted furniture is imbued with a uniqueness that no piece from a department store can ever quite replicate. The world of design is full of poorly crafted, mass produced furniture that lacks heart and soul. Handcrafted furniture is tangible, special and personal. Each handcrafted Macalli piece is embedded with the personal energy of our master craftsmen - those with time honoured skills. Take the Arc barstool for example. Its characteristic rope detail is completed entirely by hand and to perfection, with attention to detail that no machine can match. By producing locally, we are proud to give our exceptional craftsmen and women a place to practice their craft.
A part of Africa's heritage in each piece
Macalli uses polyester rope to craft our Arc chairs, stools and sofas. Although we use more modern materials that ensure the longevity of each piece, we haven't lost sight of the important historical inspiration for this collection's design. Weaving by hand has formed an integral part of African culture for thousands of years. From baskets and bags to fishing nets and furniture, the art of weaving is a vital part of our continent's story. We're proud to continue this tradition in a small way.
Sophisticated, sleek and sturdy
The signature rope detail from our Arc chairs is transferred the Arc six-seater dining table. Comprised of hand-woven polyester rope, epoxy coated aluminium and a luxurious ploy-granite top.
The Arc dining table exhibits a visually light structure with strength and durability for many years of enjoyment.
